Michael Olise is expected to stay at Bayern Munich this summer despite expressing a desire to join Real Madrid, according to reports in Germany. BILD reports that the winger informed France national team colleagues of his interest in a move to the Spanish capital. However, Bayern are firmly committed to retaining Olise and are prepared to offer him a significant contract extension.
The Bundesliga champions are prepared to offer Olise a gross annual salary exceeding €25 million, positioning him among the club’s highest earners. This proactive approach reflects Bayern’s determination to ward off interest from Madrid and secure the long-term future of a key player. Olise joined Bayern from Crystal Palace in 2023, quickly establishing himself as a regular starter and contributing significantly to their attack.
Former Bayern Munich player Lothar Matthaüs believes the likelihood of Olise moving to Real Madrid is minimal. In a column for Sport BILD, Matthaüs acknowledged the appeal of playing for a club like Real Madrid, stating, “Every player wants to play for Real Madrid at some point.” However, he anticipates Bayern will dismiss any offers and successfully negotiate a contract extension with the 24-year-old.
Matthaüs added that Bayern “won’t even entertain any talks” and will “just laugh the headlines off,” estimating the probability of Olise playing for Real Madrid next season as “practically zero.” Sources close to the player suggest he is content at Bayern and not prone to forcing a transfer, further strengthening the club’s position in negotiations. This suggests a smooth contract renewal is anticipated, solidifying Olise’s role within the Bayern squad and potentially deterring future approaches from other European giants.
Olise’s continued presence at Bayern provides stability to their attacking options and strengthens their position as contenders in both the Bundesliga and the Champions League.
