Bayern Munich winger Michael Olise has informed Real Madrid of his desire to join the Spanish club this summer, according to journalist Santi Aouna. The France international believes a move to the Santiago Bernabéu is the ideal step to further his development.
Olise has flourished since joining Bayern Munich from Crystal Palace, establishing himself as a key attacking threat. He has been linked with a return to the Premier League, with Liverpool reportedly considering him as a potential replacement for Mohamed Salah, but an enquiry was reportedly rebuffed by Bayern Munich in March.
Real Madrid are reportedly ‘obsessed’ with acquiring Olise and are prepared to make a ‘record’ transfer offer. The club has already been active in the transfer window, bringing in Marc Cucurella, Denzel Dumfries, Ibrahima Konate, and Bernardo Silva. Manager Jose Mourinho is reportedly driving the pursuit of Olise as part of a double deal, alongside Inter Milan’s Alessandro Bastoni, which could total €300 million (£255m).
While Bayern Munich have publicly stated Olise is not for sale, sources indicate the situation is more complex. The German champions are reportedly exploring potential replacements for the winger and have initiated discussions with other players, while simultaneously attempting to negotiate a contract extension with Olise. Olise will discuss his future with Bayern’s leadership following his participation in the World Cup.
Real Madrid are aiming to rebuild after two trophyless seasons, and Mourinho’s return to the club signals an intent to compete for major honors once again. Securing Olise would represent a significant statement of intent and a major coup for the Spanish giants.
