Barcelona forward Dani Olmo has refuted claims linking him with a summer move to Arsenal, stating there is “nothing to say” regarding the reported £52 million offer. The response came after journalist Enric Canyellas suggested on social media that a deal was close to completion.
Olmo joined Barcelona from RB Leipzig in the summer of 2024 for a reported €62 million, and has since made 88 appearances for the club, scoring 20 goals and providing 17 assists. Recent reports in Spain indicated Arsenal were preparing a €60 million bid for the 28-year-old, but Olmo has dismissed the speculation.
Speaking to Mundo Deportivo, as cited by Metro, Olmo reassured Barcelona supporters, saying, “No, Barca fans can rest easy. As far as I’m concerned, there’s nothing to say.” He also expressed his support for Barcelona’s recent acquisition of Anthony Gordon, stating, “Ultimately, the best players have to play for Barca. Gordon is a signing that will raise the team’s level.”
Arsenal are currently focused on acquiring Morgan Rogers from Aston Villa, though the Villa club is reportedly demanding over £100 million for the player, with Manchester City and Chelsea also showing interest. Morgan Gibbs-White of Nottingham Forest has been identified as a potential alternative should the pursuit of Rogers prove unsuccessful. While Olmo’s comments appear to close the door on a move to the Emirates, Arsenal are maintaining options as they look to strengthen their attacking midfield ahead of next season.
Barcelona are anticipating a busy summer of squad restructuring under new manager Hansi Flick, and Olmo’s future had been subject to speculation as the club looks to create space in the squad. However, his public statement indicates a desire to remain with the Catalan giants.
