Kassoum Ouattara is set to join Turkish Super Lig side Besiktas from Monaco in a permanent transfer worth €8 million, with a potential €2 million in add-ons. The deal, which was agreed upon on Wednesday, also includes a 20% sell-on clause for Monaco, meaning the Ligue 1 club will receive a percentage of any future transfer fee should Besiktas sell Ouattara. The player has been granted permission to undergo a medical in Istanbul, with his arrival expected imminently, according to L’Équipe.
The move comes despite Monaco recently allowing Caio Henrique to depart for Ajax Amsterdam, suggesting a reshaping of their left-back options. Foot Mercato initially reported Ouattara’s desire to leave the Principality this summer, prompting Monaco to consider offers. Besiktas quickly emerged as a keen suitor, and negotiations progressed swiftly to finalize the agreement.
Ouattara arrived at Monaco in November 2023 from Amiens, but struggled to establish himself as a regular starter. Across 57 appearances for the club, the 21-year-old scored one goal and provided seven assists. His time at the Rocher was hampered by both competition for places and recurring injuries, preventing him from consistently showcasing his potential.
The transfer represents a financial opportunity for Monaco to recoup a significant portion of the fee they paid for Ouattara less than a year ago. For Besiktas, it adds a young, promising left-back to their squad, providing competition and depth in that position. Ouattara will be hoping for a more consistent run of games in Turkey to further develop his career and demonstrate the qualities that initially attracted Monaco to sign him.
