FC Lorient winger Pablo Pagis has indicated his intention to leave the club this summer, following a breakout season in Ligue 1. The 26-year-old, who has registered ten goals and three assists this season, stated his desire for a new challenge in an interview with Ouest-France published on Friday.
Pagis expressed his belief that “the time is right” for a move, noting interest from “ambitious clubs” both domestically and abroad. He highlighted the appeal of projects that could offer him further development, acknowledging that offers from top clubs in foreign leagues would be of particular interest, though he remains open to staying within Ligue 1 given his familiarity with the league. The player is the son of former Rennes and Marseille striker Mickaël Pagis.
Currently under contract with Lorient until June 2027, Pagis has emerged as one of the league’s most promising talents this season. He previously spent time on loan at Nîmes and Stade Lavallois after coming through the youth academy at Stade Rennais. His current market value is estimated to be around €10 million.
Lorient have a history of selling players for significant fees, with Terem Moffi and Dango Ouattara both departing for €22.5 million transfers to Nice and Bournemouth respectively. Pagis’s form this season suggests he could command a similar fee, potentially providing Lorient with funds to reinvest in the squad. His departure would leave a void in their attack, but also present an opportunity for other players to step up. A move would allow Pagis to test himself at a higher level and potentially compete in European competitions.
