Manchester City are exploring a deal to re-sign Chelsea’s Cole Palmer, according to reports from talkSPORT, potentially initiating a significant player turnover at Stamford Bridge following their failure to qualify for European competition. Despite Chelsea’s initial reluctance to sell, Palmer, a former City academy prospect, is reportedly keen on a return to Manchester.
This potential departure comes amidst wider speculation surrounding an exodus from Chelsea, with incoming manager Xabi Alonso facing a challenge to retain a disgruntled squad. Enzo Fernandez is also reportedly seeking a move, with his agent already in contact with Real Madrid, according to Ben Jacobs. Chelsea are seeking a club-record €138m fee for the Argentine midfielder, who is no longer engaged in contract negotiations with the club.
Goalkeeper Filip Jorgensen has also requested to leave, as reported by the BBC, seeking regular first-team opportunities. Elsewhere, Barcelona are nearing the signing of Newcastle United winger Anthony Gordon, with an agreement in principle reportedly reached for a fee of €80m plus bonuses, as Fabrizio Romano reports. Gordon has already agreed personal terms on a five-year contract.
Manchester City’s interest extends beyond Palmer, with AS reporting they are also considering a move for Tottenham Hotspur right-back Pedro Porro, who previously spent time within the City Football Group. Tottenham are believed to want in excess of €50m for the Spain international. Juventus, meanwhile, are pivoting to Georgia international goalkeeper Giorgi Mamardashvili after Liverpool confirmed Alisson Becker is not for sale, according to Gazzetta dello Sport.
Bayern Munich goalkeeper Alexander Nubel is also attracting interest from both Juventus and Manchester City, as per BILD, with Bayern open to selling Nubel after three seasons on loan at Stuttgart. City are seeking a replacement for James Trafford, who is expected to depart again this summer. Several other transfer rumours are circulating, involving players from clubs across Europe, including potential moves for Josko Gvardiol, Christ Inao Oulai, and Fabio Vieira.
