Le Paris FC have had a €7 million bid rejected for AJ Auxerre forward Lassine Sinayoko, according to L’Équipe. The offer, made for the 26-year-old who scored 12 goals last season, was deemed insufficient by the Auxerre board.
The potential transfer comes amidst a disagreement over a previously agreed clause in Sinayoko’s contract. Following a contract extension in January, signed through 2027 with an optional year, Baptiste Malherbe, the president and general manager of Auxerre, reportedly promised Sinayoko he would be allowed to transfer should a bid matching an offer previously received from Lens arrive. That Lens offer consisted of a €6.5 million transfer fee plus a potential €1.5 million in bonuses.
Sinayoko has informed Auxerre’s leadership of his desire to leave, citing the written agreement, and has ceased training with the team, as reported by Foot Mercato. Auxerre management, however, believe the agreement is no longer valid and value Sinayoko at a higher fee than the €7 million offered by Paris FC.
Sinayoko joined Auxerre in 2022, becoming a key player in their fight against relegation last season. His 12 goals were crucial in securing their Ligue 1 status, making him a valuable asset for the club. Prior to joining Auxerre, he played for Clermont Foot, where he established himself as a promising young striker.
The situation presents a challenge for Auxerre, who must balance their financial considerations with a player’s desire to move and a potentially binding contractual obligation. A resolution will likely involve either an increased offer from Paris FC or a negotiation to clarify the terms of Sinayoko’s release.
