Paris FC majority shareholder Antoine Arnault has publicly expressed his desire to convince Jürgen Klopp to manage the club should they qualify for the Champions League. Arnault revealed his ambition during an appearance on the RMC After Foot program on Tuesday evening, outlining a long-term project centered around attracting the German coach.
Klopp recently departed Liverpool after a hugely successful nine-year spell, winning every major trophy available to the club. He has stated his intention to take a break from management, a point Arnault acknowledged, suggesting the Paris FC would wait three to five years to make their approach should European qualification be achieved. The timing aligns with Klopp’s stated desire not to return to the touchline immediately.
Paris FC currently play in Ligue 2, the second tier of French football. They finished mid-table in the recently concluded season, a considerable distance from the promotion places required to reach Ligue 1, let alone the Champions League. Arnault also confirmed that current manager Antoine Kombouaré would not be dismissed mid-season, even in the event of European qualification. This suggests a clear separation between the immediate future under Kombouaré and the long-term ambition of securing Klopp’s services.
The club is also exploring options to move from their current stadium, Stade Jean-Bouin, to a larger venue, further demonstrating their ambition to grow and compete at a higher level. While the prospect of Klopp managing Paris FC remains highly speculative, Arnault’s public declaration signals a bold vision for the future of the club and a willingness to aim high. The appointment of a manager of Klopp’s stature would represent a transformative moment for Paris FC, elevating their profile both domestically and internationally.
