Paris FC have completed the permanent signing of defender Diego Coppola from Brighton & Hove Albion, the club confirmed on Thursday. The Italian international has signed a contract with the Ligue 1 side that runs until 2031. Coppola spent the latter half of last season on loan at Paris FC, making a significant impact on their defence.
Coppola, 22, initially joined Brighton last summer from Hellas Verona, but featured in only nine matches across all competitions for the Premier League club. His move to Paris FC proved more fruitful, quickly establishing himself as a key player in the team’s backline. He started each of the club’s final 13 Ligue 1 matches after arriving in January.
The defender has also earned two senior international caps for Italy. Paris FC’s sporting director, Marco Neppe, expressed his delight at securing Coppola’s long-term future, stating that the player demonstrated his quality and potential contribution to the team during his loan spell. Neppe highlighted Coppola’s impact as a key reason for pursuing a permanent transfer.
Coppola will be working under a new manager at Paris FC, with Liam Rosenior recently appointed as the club’s head coach, replacing Antoine Kombouaré. Rosenior will be tasked with integrating Coppola into his system and building upon the defender’s existing form. The signing strengthens Paris FC’s defensive options as they prepare for the upcoming Ligue 1 season and provides stability in a key position. This move allows Coppola to secure regular first-team football and continue his development in a league where he has already proven his capabilities.
