Goalkeeper Pau Lopez has completed a move to FC Andorra, a second-division Spanish club, after a short spell with Deportivo Toluca in Mexico. The 31-year-old has signed a contract with Andorra that runs for three seasons with an option for a further year, the club confirmed on Friday. This move comes after Lopez’s contract with Real Betis was mutually terminated, despite having signed an extension with the Andalusian side just days prior following a transfer from Toluca.
Lopez initially joined Olympique de Marseille in 2021, where he became a regular fixture in goal, making 127 appearances across all competitions. He departed the French club permanently in 2025, having spent the 2024-2025 season on loan at Girona, where he featured in only three matches. His recent form has been inconsistent, with limited playing time at both Girona and Toluca following a productive period at Marseille.
Prior to his time in France, Lopez had a previous stint at Betis during the 2018-2019 season. He returned to the club in 2023, signing a contract until 2028, but this deal was quickly dissolved by mutual consent, allowing him to pursue opportunities elsewhere. The termination of his Betis contract paved the way for the transfer to Andorra, a club currently 13th in Liga2.
The Spanish international, who has earned two caps for his country, will be looking to regain consistent first-team football at Andorra. The move provides Lopez with a platform to rebuild his career and potentially attract interest from higher-level clubs in the future. For FC Andorra, the signing of a goalkeeper with Lopez’s experience represents a significant boost as they aim to improve their league position next season.
