Former Lazio forward Pedro has agreed to become a technical commentator for DAZN Spain, according to reports in Italy. The Spanish international will join fellow ex-Lazio player Pepe Reina as a voice on the streaming platform’s LaLiga coverage.
Pedro’s move comes after his departure from Lazio following the conclusion of their Serie A season. His contract with the Roman club officially expires on June 30th, after which he will immediately begin his new role with DAZN. The arrangement will see the 2010 World Cup winner provide analysis and insight for Spanish football fans.
The pairing of Pedro and Reina will create a broadcast duo comprised of two World Cup winners with Spain’s national team, offering a wealth of experience to DAZN’s coverage. Pedro spent two seasons with Lazio, making 62 appearances and scoring eight goals after joining from Chelsea in 2020. While his time in Rome wasn’t always consistent, he provided valuable experience to a developing squad.
Despite taking on this broadcasting role, a future in football administration or coaching remains a possibility for Pedro. Reports suggest Lazio may consider him for a position within the club’s structure in the future, recognizing his Champions League pedigree – having won the competition three times with Barcelona. However, for the next year, the focus will be on his new media venture, after which he will reassess his long-term career path. The deal with DAZN is initially for one year, allowing Pedro time to explore other options.
