Adrian Przyborek is poised to receive a greater opportunity at Lazio following the arrival of new manager Gennaro Gattuso. The 19-year-old Polish attacking midfielder arrived at the club in January from Pogon Szczecin for a reported fee of around seven million euros, signing a contract that runs until 2030.
Przyborek has seen limited playing time since his arrival, featuring for only eight minutes in the final match of the Serie A season against Pisa. He spent the majority of his time with the first team on the bench, making 17 appearances as an unused substitute, with a further 71 minutes played for the Primavera squad in a derby match against Roma. His lack of opportunities under previous manager Maurizio Sarri was largely attributed to tactical reasons, as his natural position as a trequartista did not fit within Sarri’s preferred 4-3-3 formation.
However, Gattuso is expected to implement a 4-2-3-1 system, which will create a more natural role for Przyborek as a central attacking midfielder. The Poland Under-19 captain expressed his readiness to compete for a place in the squad upon his arrival in February, stating his flexibility to play in multiple positions and his desire to seize any opportunities presented to him. He also noted he had spoken with the new manager and understood his expectations.
Lazio officials believe the extended period on the bench has allowed Przyborek to adapt to the challenges of Serie A and study the Italian game. The club hopes that under Gattuso, he can showcase his technical ability and dribbling skills, becoming a valuable asset in the team. The change in formation is seen as a potential turning point for the young player’s career in Rome.
The move could prove beneficial for both parties, offering Przyborek a clear pathway to first-team football and allowing Lazio to integrate a promising young talent into their squad.
