Serhou Guirassy, the Borussia Dortmund striker, has reportedly agreed to a summer transfer to Turkish Süper Lig side Fenerbahçe, according to journalist Yagiz Sabuncuoglu. The move is contingent on Aziz Yildirim winning the upcoming Fenerbahçe presidential election, with the vote scheduled to take place on June 6th and 7th.
Sabuncuoglu reports that Yildirim has already reached an agreement with both Guirassy and Dortmund officials. Should Yildirim emerge victorious, the Guinean forward is expected to be his first major signing. The election process involves 44,741 eligible club members, and the count will proceed regardless of attendance numbers.
Guirassy has seemingly begun preparations for a potential move to Istanbul, reportedly gathering information about the city. This proactive approach suggests a strong desire to join Fenerbahçe should Yildirim secure the presidency. The 30-year-old enjoyed a productive season with Dortmund, finishing as the third-highest goalscorer in the Bundesliga with 17 goals and one assist in 33 appearances.
Guirassy joined Dortmund in January 2023 on a six-month loan from Rennes, which was then made permanent. Prior to his time in Germany, the forward had spells with Auxerre, Cologne, and Amiens, demonstrating a career spent largely in European top-flight football. His goalscoring record in recent seasons has been impressive, making him an attractive prospect for a club like Fenerbahçe looking to strengthen their attacking options.
Fenerbahçe finished second in the Süper Lig last season, trailing Galatasaray by a significant margin. Adding a proven goalscorer like Guirassy could be pivotal in their attempt to challenge for the title next season. The outcome of the presidential election will ultimately determine whether this transfer materializes and shapes Fenerbahçe’s ambitions for the upcoming campaign.
