Paris Saint-Germain have ended their interest in RB Leipzig winger Yan Diomandé, reportedly due to the Bundesliga club’s valuation, according to RMC Sport. The French champions were long considered favourites to sign the Ivorian international, but have refused to meet Leipzig’s demands, which were said to be around €120 million.
This development has paved the way for Real Madrid to secure Diomandé’s signature. Fabrizio Romano announced a ‘Here we go’ confirmation on Sunday, indicating that the deal is virtually complete. The player is expected in Madrid next week to finalise a contract that will run until 2031.
Diomandé, 21, has established himself as a key player for Leipzig since joining from Nice in January 2023. He contributed significantly to their attack last season, scoring six goals and providing eight assists in all competitions. His pace, dribbling ability, and eye for goal have attracted attention from several top European clubs.
Real Madrid’s pursuit of Diomandé suggests a long-term plan to bolster their attacking options. The Spanish giants have been linked with several forwards in recent months, and Diomandé appears to be their preferred choice. The move could also provide competition for existing wingers such as Vinícius Júnior and Rodrygo. The capture of Diomandé could also potentially influence PSG’s plans regarding Bradley Barcola, with reports suggesting the French international may not be offered a contract extension.
This transfer represents a significant outlay for Real Madrid, but they clearly believe Diomandé possesses the quality to become a star at the Santiago Bernabéu.
