Marcus Rashford’s potential move to Barcelona has been given a boost by the impending sale of Ansu Fati to Monaco, according to reports in Spain. Barcelona are set to receive a package worth €11million (£9.5m) for Fati, including sell-on and buy-back clauses, potentially freeing up funds for further attacking reinforcements.
Rashford spent last season on loan at the Nou Camp, enjoying a productive campaign with 14 goals and 14 assists in all competitions. Barcelona had a £26million option to make the move permanent, but that option has now expired, and the club subsequently signed Anthony Gordon from Newcastle for £70million. Despite this, Rashford remains keen on a return to the LaLiga champions.
Marca reports that Rashford ‘isn’t giving up’ on his dream to rejoin Barcelona and is ‘confident’ he can secure a move for next season, even after the club attempted to renegotiate the terms of the original deal. However, the situation has opened the door for interest from Bayern Munich, who TEAMtalk understands are increasingly confident of signing the England international after positive discussions with his representatives.
United are reportedly insistent on receiving a transfer fee for Rashford this summer, which could favour a move to Bayern if Barcelona are unwilling to meet their valuation. A potential move to the Bundesliga would require Rashford to accept a potentially lower wage and compete for a starting position with established players such as Luis Diaz, Michael Olise and Jamal Musiala. The forward’s decision will be crucial, as opportunities at Barcelona are also becoming less certain following the arrival of Gordon. The situation presents a complex choice for Rashford as he weighs his options for regular playing time and continued success.
