Real Madrid are reportedly open to selling left-back Alvaro Carreras to Arsenal this summer, according to a report in Sport. The Spanish publication suggests that Madrid would consider offers for the 23-year-old, having determined he doesn’t fully fit their desired profile for the position.
Carreras joined Real Madrid from Benfica in the summer of 2025 for a fee of €50 million. While he hasn’t established himself as an automatic starter, the club are not actively pushing for his departure, but would listen to proposals. This stance comes despite Carreras recently stating his commitment to the club following a training ground incident with teammate Antonio Rudiger, publicly affirming his dedication to Real Madrid on Instagram.
Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has been linked with a move for Carreras, with reports suggesting the player himself would be receptive to a transfer to the North London club. Arsenal are currently competing at the top of the Premier League and have reached the Champions League final, making them an attractive destination. However, TEAMtalk notes caution, pointing out that Madrid signed Carreras only last year and he remains a young player with potential.
Arsenal already have options at left-back, including Riccardo Calafiori and Myles Lewis-Skelly, with Piero Hincapie’s loan deal from Bayer Leverkusen set to be made permanent. This raises questions about the necessity of adding another player in that position. The potential arrival of Carreras could provide further depth and competition, but the club’s existing options offer versatility and established experience. The situation warrants careful consideration from Arteta and sporting director Andrea Berta.
