Real Madrid president Florentino Perez has reportedly approved the potential signing of Chelsea midfielder Enzo Fernandez, according to TEAMtalk. This comes as Perez prepares to be re-elected as Real Madrid president and plans a midfield rebuild under incoming manager Jose Mourinho. Fernandez is seen as a preferred option to Liverpool’s Alexis Mac Allister, though Perez still favors a move for Manchester City’s Rodri.
Chelsea are intensifying their pursuit of Bournemouth midfielder Alex Scott, with discussions reportedly “ramping up” according to Blues insider @secretsourc on X. Bournemouth are reportedly attempting to tie Scott down to a new contract, but are seeking a fee of around €75 million for the England international, who has two years remaining on his current deal. Several other Premier League clubs are also monitoring the situation.
Chelsea are also preparing to revisit their interest in AC Milan goalkeeper Mike Maignan, as reported by Calciomercato. The Blues previously attempted to sign Maignan last summer, but he signed a contract extension with Milan. However, Milan’s failure to qualify for the Champions League may prompt the goalkeeper to reconsider his options, and incoming Chelsea manager Xabi Alonso is reportedly seeking an experienced number one.
Barcelona officials are currently in London for further talks regarding Chelsea forward Joao Pedro, as stated by Gerard Romero. The Catalan club’s sporting director, Deco, was previously in London during the FA Cup final weekend, identifying Pedro as a potential summer target due to concerns over the cost of Julian Alvarez. Despite Barcelona’s interest, Chelsea are reportedly unwilling to sell the Brazilian forward, who has not indicated a desire to leave the club. Fernandez joined Chelsea in January 2023 from Benfica for a fee of £106.8 million, becoming the club’s most expensive signing. Scott has established himself as a key player for Bournemouth, making 33 appearances in the Premier League this season. Maignan has been a consistent performer for AC Milan since joining in 2021, winning the Serie A title in 2022. These potential moves signal a busy summer transfer window for Chelsea as they look to reshape their squad under Alonso.
