Lille forward Ayyoub Bouaddi is attracting significant interest from across Europe’s elite clubs, with Real Madrid emerging as a leading contender for his signature, according to reports in Spain. The 18-year-old’s performances for Morocco at the 2026 World Cup, particularly in their 1-1 draw with Brazil, have significantly raised his profile.
Arsenal have already initiated discussions with Lille regarding a potential transfer for Bouaddi this summer, with reports suggesting a deal worth around €70 million was being considered. However, Paris Saint-Germain were previously considered frontrunners, and now Real Madrid have entered the fray, viewing Bouaddi as a potential alternative to Benfica’s Enzo Fernandez.
Olivier Giroud, Bouaddi’s teammate at Lille, believes a move to the Spanish capital is within reach for the young midfielder. Speaking to the BBC, Giroud stated that Bouaddi’s price tag is likely to make it difficult for Lille to retain him, praising his versatility and comparing his playing style to that of N’Golo Kanté. Giroud did suggest that Bouaddi needs to improve his finishing to reach his full potential, but predicted a move to Real Madrid if he does.
Bouaddi progressed through Lille’s youth academy, making his senior debut in the Europa League in October 2023 at the age of 16 years and three days, setting a new record as the youngest player to feature in a European competition. He quickly replicated this feat in Ligue 1, further establishing his potential. He has since become a regular in Lille’s midfield, accumulating 96 appearances across all competitions, though he is yet to score a senior goal for the club.
Real Madrid manager Jose Mourinho initially identified Fernandez as his primary target to bolster the midfield. However, Chelsea are expected to demand a fee exceeding €120 million for the Argentinian international, prompting Real Madrid to explore alternative options, with Bouaddi now firmly on their radar. This increased competition presents a challenge to Arsenal’s pursuit of the Moroccan talent.
