Real Madrid president Florentino Perez has reportedly ‘promised’ manager Jose Mourinho the signing of Paris Saint-Germain midfielder Vitinha, should he be re-elected in Sunday’s presidential elections. The potential transfer, valued at €115m, is being presented as a key component of Perez’s campaign, according to reports in Record in Portugal.
The election will take place on June 7th, with Perez facing a challenge from Enrique Riquelme. Both candidates are emphasizing potential blockbuster signings to sway voters, though Riquelme’s attempt to showcase a shirt with Erling Haaland’s name on it has reportedly led to potential legal action from Manchester City.
Vitinha, a Portuguese international, finished third in the 2025 Ballon d’Or voting, behind Ousmane Dembele and Lamine Yamal, and was recognized as the top-ranked midfielder. He has since played a crucial role in PSG’s consecutive Champions League title wins under Luis Enrique. A release clause of €115m / £100m is believed to be the key to potentially unlocking the deal.
Cadena SER’s Pacojó Delgado claims that announcing Vitinha’s signing would be a “knockout blow” for Perez’s opponents in the election. The involvement of super-agent Jorge Mendes, who represents both Mourinho and Vitinha, is also seen as a significant factor in facilitating a potential move.
Real Madrid are actively seeking to strengthen their midfield options this summer, with Alexis Mac Allister, Rodri, and Enzo Fernandez also reportedly on their shortlist. The club is looking for a player who can immediately impact the first team. Securing Vitinha would represent a significant statement of intent, and potentially solidify Mourinho’s position as he begins his tenure at the Bernabéu.
