France manager Didier Deschamps has urged Michael Olise to resolve his club future before the start of the World Cup, as speculation intensifies regarding a potential transfer to Real Madrid. The 24-year-old winger has flourished since joining Bayern Munich in 2024, scoring 42 goals in 107 appearances for Vincent Kompany’s side, who completed a domestic double of the Bundesliga title and German Cup last season.
Real Madrid president Florentino Perez has publicly stated his intention to make a €150 million (£130m) bid for an unnamed player should he win Sunday’s presidential elections. While Perez initially denied Olise was the target of this pledge, both The Telegraph and The Guardian report that the club intends to make a club-record offer for the Bayern forward. However, Bayern Munich’s chief Uli Hoeness declared in March that Olise would not be sold under any circumstances, even for a fee of €200 million (£172m).
Deschamps has extended this message to several France players whose futures are uncertain ahead of the summer transfer window, including Mike Maignan, Maxence Lacroix, Adrien Rabiot, Manu Kone, and Jean-Philippe Mateta. He emphasized the importance of clarity to avoid distractions during the World Cup, stating that “the faster the situation is clarified, the better it will be” for all involved, according to RMC Sport. Deschamps reiterated that once the tournament begins, players should focus solely on the competition.
France are drawn into a challenging World Cup group alongside Senegal and Norway. They will play a warm-up match against Northern Ireland before their tournament opener against Senegal on June 16th. Les Bleus will then face Iraq and Norway in their remaining group stage matches. Olise is expected to feature prominently in France’s attack, potentially alongside Paris Saint-Germain’s Ousmane Dembele and Real Madrid’s Kylian Mbappe. The former Crystal Palace player will be making his first appearance in a World Cup tournament this summer.
