Real Madrid are reportedly pursuing Chelsea midfielder Enzo Fernandez, with a potential transfer fee of €140 million, according to reports. The Spanish club are funding their summer spending through strategic player sales, including a deal involving Osasuna winger Victor Munoz and a potential renegotiation with Como over Nico Paz.
Fernandez, who joined Chelsea in January 2023 for a British record fee, has become a key player for the Blues, featuring regularly in midfield. However, the player is reportedly keen on a move to the Spanish capital, potentially offering Real Madrid a significant addition to their squad. This interest comes as Real Madrid look to bolster their midfield options ahead of the new season.
Chelsea’s search for a new goalkeeper continues, with interest reignited in Porto’s Diogo Costa. The Blues are also monitoring AC Milan’s Mike Maignan, whose agent is exploring options in the Premier League following a disappointing season and World Cup campaign for the France international. Maignan’s confidence has reportedly been affected by Milan’s failure to qualify for the Champions League.
Should Chelsea pursue Costa, they may need to meet his €60 million release clause, as Porto are unwilling to negotiate a lower fee. Meanwhile, current Chelsea goalkeeper Filip Jorgensen has reportedly requested to leave the club in search of more regular playing time. This situation has prompted the Blues to actively seek potential replacements.
Freiburg’s Johan Manzambi, who impressed at the recent World Cup with a brace for Switzerland, has also emerged as a potential target for Chelsea. Data analytics firm SciSports suggests that a move to Chelsea, or to Serie A, would be a beneficial step for the 20-year-old’s development, with Arsenal and Manchester United also previously linked with the player. Manzambi enjoyed a breakout season in the Bundesliga, attracting attention from several top European clubs.
