Stade de Reims and AS Nancy-Lorraine have both appointed new managers ahead of the 2026-2027 Ligue 2 season, the clubs confirmed on Thursday. Nicolas Usaï will take charge at Reims, while Oswald Tanchot has been named the new head coach of Nancy.
Usaï, 52, joins Reims after departing Pau in January following a mutual agreement with the club. He previously managed Orléans and Nîmes, bringing a wealth of experience in the French second tier. He replaces Karel Geraerts as the manager of the Champagne-based club. In a video announcing his arrival, Usaï alluded to a philosophical approach to management.
Meanwhile, AS Nancy-Lorraine have secured the services of Oswald Tanchot on a two-year contract with an option for a further year. Tanchot succeeds Pablo Correa on the bench of the Chardons, having most recently managed Grenoble. The club announced the appointment via their official Twitter account, signaling a fresh start for the historic club.
These managerial changes come as Ligue 2 prepares for the opening of the player transfer window on June 15th. Both Reims and Nancy will be hoping their new appointments can lead to improved performances in the upcoming season. Usaï’s experience in stabilizing clubs and Tanchot’s track record in developing players could prove vital as they navigate the challenges of Ligue 2. The appointments signal a period of restructuring for both clubs as they aim to compete at the higher end of the table.
These moves are part of a broader reshuffling of managerial positions within the French football pyramid, indicating a proactive approach to preparation for the next campaign.
