Chelsea are poised to unveil Morgan Rogers as their all-time record signing after the England international underwent a medical ahead of a £117 million move from Aston Villa, according to Sky Sports News. Rogers is expected to sign a six-year contract with an option for a further year until 2033.
The transfer came after Arsenal hesitated to meet Villa’s asking price, allowing Chelsea to capitalize and secure the 21-year-old. Former Chelsea midfielder Joe Cole expressed his enthusiasm for the signing on The Rest is Football podcast, believing Rogers will thrive playing off the left and forming a strong partnership with Cole Palmer. Cole also suggested the arrival may necessitate the departure of Enzo Fernández to balance the books.
Meanwhile, Nicolas Jackson has indicated his desire to remain at Stamford Bridge despite speculation linking him with a return to Aston Villa. Jackson spent last season on loan at Bayern Munich after a disagreement with former manager Enzo Maresca, but Bayern did not trigger their €65 million option-to-buy clause. The Sun reports that Jackson is eager to impress new manager Xabi Alonso during pre-season training and compete for a starting position alongside Joao Pedro and Emmanuel Emegha.
Chelsea are also considering offers for other players. Alejandro Garnacho is expected to be sold for over €47 million (£40m), with AS Roma among the interested clubs, as reported by The Telegraph. Garnacho, despite having six years left on his contract, is reportedly keen to find more regular playing time elsewhere. Napoli have expressed interest in a loan deal for Benoit Badiashile, but Chelsea are only open to a permanent transfer for the French defender, according to Gazzetta dello Sport. Badiashile made limited appearances last season and was often left out of the matchday squad.
