Liam Rosenior is poised to return to management with Paris FC, less than three months after being sacked by Chelsea, according to multiple reports from France.
The English coach agreed to a two-year contract with the Ligue 1 club, with final details currently being discussed, as reported by Footmercato. This move comes as Paris FC are set to part ways with current manager Antoine Kombouaré, following reported tensions between the club and the coach.
Rosenior’s time at Chelsea was brief, lasting only three months after joining in January on a six-and-a-half-year contract. During his tenure, Chelsea experienced a downturn in form, losing ten of his 23 games in charge. Prior to his appointment at Stamford Bridge, Rosenior had impressed while managing Strasbourg, leading them to a seventh-place finish in Ligue 1.
The delay in Paris FC’s pre-season training, pushed back eight days to July 9th, is directly linked to resolving the managerial situation. Kombouaré is reportedly seeking a contract extension with a pay rise, but the club are unwilling to meet his demands, preferring to maintain his current deal until at least January. Disappointment with his attitude has contributed to the club’s decision to move in a different direction.
While the move appears imminent, it remains to be seen if any complications arise from the terms of Rosenior’s severance package with Chelsea, where he was originally contracted until 2032. Paris FC are owned by the Arnault family, spearheaded by Bernard Arnault, the Chairman and CEO of LVMH, making them one of the wealthiest ownership groups in football. Rosenior’s return to French football offers him a chance to rebuild his managerial career after a challenging spell in the Premier League, while Paris FC seek stability and progression in Ligue 1.
This appointment could signal a shift in direction for Paris FC, as they aim to build on their first season back in the top flight.
