Former France and Bayern Munich defender Willy Sagnol has suggested that Paris Saint-Germain midfielder Warren Zaïre-Emery possesses the qualities to succeed at the German champions. Sagnol shared his assessment with Sport Bild, highlighting the 20-year-old’s profile as a strong fit for Bayern’s system.
The former right-back praised Zaïre-Emery’s character and work ethic, alongside his technical development. Sagnol stated he is “a big fan” of the young midfielder, explicitly noting that his attributes align well with the traditional values of the Bavarian club. The comments come as Zaïre-Emery continues to establish himself as a key player for PSG, though competition for places in midfield remains fierce.
Zaïre-Emery has become a regular fixture in Luis Enrique’s starting eleven this season, featuring prominently in both Ligue 1 and the Champions League. He has demonstrated a maturity beyond his years, displaying both defensive solidity and an ability to contribute in the final third. However, with players like Vitinha, Manuel Ugarte, and Fabian Ruiz also vying for midfield spots, consistent playing time cannot be guaranteed.
Sagnol speculated that a lack of regular starts could prompt Zaïre-Emery to seek opportunities elsewhere. He acknowledged the financial implications of any potential deal, stating that the player “would be very expensive.” Transfermarkt currently values Zaïre-Emery at €80 million, reflecting his status as one of the most promising young talents in European football. The midfielder’s current contract with PSG extends until 2029, providing the French club with a strong negotiating position.
Bayern Munich are known to be in the market for midfield reinforcements, particularly with the aging profiles of some of their current options. A move for Zaïre-Emery could represent a long-term investment in a dynamic and versatile player, capable of dictating play and contributing defensively. Should Zaïre-Emery become available, Bayern’s financial muscle would likely make them a leading contender for his signature.
