Morocco international Ismael Saibari is poised to complete a €55 million move from PSV Eindhoven to Bayern Munich, with the player reportedly undergoing a medical in the United States while on international duty. The news was confirmed by Morocco coach Mohamed Ouahbi, who spoke to reporters on Thursday regarding the impending transfer.
Ouahbi acknowledged the reports, stating that while the deal is not yet official, he and the Moroccan national team are proud of Saibari’s opportunity to join a club of Bayern’s stature. He emphasized that the 25-year-old remains fully focused on his commitments to Morocco during the ongoing tournament, adding that Bayern Munich have been respectful of this priority in their communication. “We don’t decide the timing, of course, but it is not official yet,” Ouahbi said, according to AFP.
Saibari has enjoyed a breakout year with PSV, contributing significantly to their Eredivisie title win last season. He scored 16 goals in all competitions for the Dutch side, establishing himself as one of the league’s most exciting attacking talents. His performances attracted interest from several top European clubs, but Bayern Munich moved quickly to secure his signature under new manager Vincent Kompany.
Ouahbi revealed a pre-existing relationship with Kompany, suggesting the Bayern coach understands the importance of allowing Saibari to concentrate on international duty. “I am lucky enough to know [Bayern coach] Vincent Kompany very well. I think he understands that the priority right now is Morocco, but we will be very proud when it is done, and we want the best Moroccan players at the best clubs,” he stated. Saibari demonstrated his quality on the international stage recently, scoring in Morocco’s 1-1 draw against Brazil.
Bayern Munich are undergoing a significant rebuild under Kompany, following a disappointing Bundesliga campaign last season. The acquisition of Saibari represents a key part of their attacking overhaul, providing much-needed creativity and goal threat. The move will likely see Saibari compete for a starting position alongside Harry Kane and other established Bayern forwards, offering Kompany tactical flexibility in attack. Saibari is expected to feature prominently when Morocco face Scotland on Saturday.
