Bukayo Saka has indicated a preference for facing Bayern Munich in the Champions League final, rather than Paris Saint-Germain. Speaking to Micah Richards on CBS Sports following Arsenal’s semi-final victory, Saka appeared decisive when asked about his preferred opponent for the May 30th match in Budapest.
Saka stated he would watch the second semi-final between PSG and Bayern closely before offering “a response for the media,” but then added, “But you know very well who we want to face in the final.” This suggests a leaning towards a rematch with Bayern, a team Arsenal defeated convincingly 3-1 at the Emirates Stadium earlier in the competition.
The preference is likely rooted in Arsenal’s recent history in the competition. Last season, PSG eliminated Arsenal at the quarter-final stage, denying them a place in the final. A victory over Bayern would also represent a continuation of positive momentum, having already secured a significant win against them this campaign. Saka has been a key figure in Arsenal’s run to the final, scoring crucial goals and consistently delivering strong performances.
Arsenal currently sit top of the Premier League table, pushing for their first league title in two decades. Saka, 22, has been instrumental in their success, contributing goals and assists while establishing himself as one of the league’s most exciting young talents. He has become a mainstay in both Arsenal’s starting eleven and the England national team. The club’s impressive form and Saka’s individual brilliance have fueled their Champions League ambitions and generated considerable excitement among supporters. A Champions League trophy would solidify Arsenal’s return to the elite of European football and mark a significant achievement for Mikel Arteta’s side.
Should Arsenal face Bayern, it will be a test of their ability to replicate their earlier success against the German champions. A clash with PSG, however, would present an opportunity for revenge and a chance to overcome the hurdle that stopped them last season.
