Jadon Sancho’s future is uncertain as Borussia Dortmund have reportedly cooled their pursuit of the winger, according to TEAMtalk. Sancho is currently on loan at Aston Villa from Manchester United and recently became the first player to appear in three successive European finals for three different clubs after Villa’s 3-0 Europa League final victory over Freiburg in Istanbul.
Sancho has made 40 appearances for Aston Villa this season, gradually re-establishing himself as a key attacking player under Unai Emery. The club confirmed Emery is keen to retain Sancho permanently once his contract with Manchester United expires this summer, appreciating his versatility and improved form. Sancho is also believed to be open to staying at Villa Park.
A return to Borussia Dortmund, where Sancho previously enjoyed a successful spell, had been considered a strong possibility. Discussions had begun positively, with Dortmund head coach Niko Kovac reportedly approving the move, believing he could help Sancho recapture his best form. However, the club’s leadership, led by managing director Lars Ricken, have expressed uncertainty regarding the financial package and overall structure of a potential deal.
This hesitation from Dortmund has prompted interest from Turkish clubs, with Galatasaray, Fenerbahce, and Besiktas all registering serious interest in the England international. Galatasaray and Fenerbahce’s participation in the Champions League next season is seen as a particularly attractive factor. Sources indicate these clubs believe Sancho could be a marquee signing for the summer window. While Saudi Pro League clubs have also shown interest, Sancho is reportedly keen to remain in European football.
Additionally, Sancho’s representatives are exploring opportunities in Italy, with exploratory conversations held with Juventus, AC Milan, Napoli, and Como. Sancho is said to have a long-standing desire to play in Serie A. His future remains open, and any move could potentially impact Aston Villa’s pursuit of Marcus Rashford.
