Tottenham Hotspur are preparing to offer centre-back Luka Vuskovic a significantly improved contract in an attempt to ward off interest from Barcelona, sources have confirmed to TEAMtalk.
The 19-year-old Croatian joined Spurs from Hajduk Split in 2025 before being immediately loaned to Bundesliga side Hamburg, where he has impressed with his composure, aerial ability, and ball-playing skills.
Tottenham’s hierarchy view Vuskovic as a key part of their long-term defensive plans, and director of football Johan Lange has already held talks with the player in Germany to signal the club’s commitment. A substantial pay rise is being prepared, reflecting his development and the club’s desire to secure his future until 2030.
Barcelona have reportedly made fresh contact in recent days as they seek to strengthen their backline, however, Spurs are currently unwilling to consider a sale, particularly if they maintain their Premier League status. Remaining in the top flight would also allow the club to offer Vuskovic a clear pathway to first-team football under manager Roberto De Zerbi.
Vuskovic has previously expressed his expectation of returning to Tottenham after his loan spell, but that outcome is contingent on the club avoiding relegation to the Championship. Retaining the young defender would be a positive statement from Tottenham, a club often criticized for not developing young talent.
Should Tottenham remain in the Premier League, club officials are confident the new contract offer will be enough to convince Vuskovic to commit his future to the north London club.
