Tottenham Hotspur are progressing towards a deal to sign winger Savinho from Manchester City, according to Fabrizio Romano. The clubs are in ongoing contact, with Tottenham eager to finalize terms quickly with both the player and City.
Spurs previously expressed strong interest in Savinho last summer, reportedly submitting bids up to €80 million (£70m) for the Brazilian. However, a move failed to materialize. This time, Manchester City are more willing to negotiate a sale, and the transfer fee is expected to be lower than previously quoted. Romano suggests the price will “probably” differ from the €80 million asked last year.
Savinho has been a dynamic attacking player for Manchester City, though his role has not been consistently prominent. He has demonstrated significant potential in glimpses, attracting attention from multiple Premier League clubs. Tottenham’s new manager, Roberto De Zerbi, appears to be a strong advocate for the player, having also pursued him when he was at Brighton & Hove Albion.
The potential arrival of Savinho is part of a significant overhaul of the Tottenham squad under De Zerbi. The club has already secured deals for Andy Robertson and Marcos Senesi on free transfers, successfully fending off interest from Juventus for Robertson. Veteran defender Ben Davies is also set to sign a contract extension, while loanee Joao Palhinha is reportedly prioritizing a return to Spurs, with an option to buy available with Bayern Munich for €30m (£26m). These additions signal a clear intent to strengthen the team’s leadership and overall quality.
The acquisition of Savinho would provide De Zerbi with a versatile attacking option, capable of playing on either wing. His pace and dribbling skills could add a new dimension to Tottenham’s attack, addressing a need for more creativity and goal threat. A successful transfer would further solidify Tottenham’s ambitions to climb the Premier League table after consecutive disappointing seasons.
