Negotiations between Juventus and Dusan Vlahovic over a contract renewal have reached a standstill, according to reports in Italy. Despite the player’s willingness to extend his stay in Turin, a significant gap remains regarding his salary expectations, specifically concerning a signing bonus and agent commissions.
Juventus believe they have presented a generous offer, but Vlahovic and his representatives disagree. The Serbia international has demonstrated commitment to the club, reportedly agreeing to a substantial reduction in his wages and working diligently to recover from a recent injury in an attempt to secure Champions League qualification for the Bianconeri, a feat they ultimately failed to achieve. However, his recent form, with four goals in his last four appearances, has attracted attention from other clubs.
Napoli have emerged as potential suitors, with new sporting director Giovanni Manna, familiar with Vlahovic from his time at Juventus, initiating contact with the player’s entourage, including his father, Milos. This interest stems from Napoli’s need to replace Romelu Lukaku, who is expected to depart, and they view Vlahovic as a viable option, potentially matching Juventus’s offer. The club are also preparing to appoint Vincenzo Italiano as their new head coach.
Juventus are keen to retain Vlahovic, recognizing that losing him would necessitate the acquisition of multiple replacements, given the potential departures of Jonathan David and Lois Openda. The club acknowledges the difficulty of finding quality strikers in the current market and the financial implications of replacing him. There is also concern about strengthening a direct rival like Napoli, who are aiming to challenge for the Serie A title. The situation remains fluid, with Vlahovic still hoping for a breakthrough in negotiations with Juventus before considering alternative options.
