VfB Stuttgart sporting director Fabian Wohlgemuth has confirmed the club’s interest in VfL Wolfsburg forward Dzenan Pejcinovic, though he stressed that the player remains under contract with the Wolves. The confirmation comes amid ongoing speculation linking the 21-year-old with a move to Stuttgart during the current transfer window.
Wohlgemuth addressed the situation in an interview with Zeitungsverlag Waiblingen, acknowledging Stuttgart’s pursuit of Pejcinovic but emphasizing the need for a professional approach given the player’s existing contractual obligations. He stated that Pejcinovic is currently participating in pre-season training with Wolfsburg and declined to offer further specifics on the potential transfer.
Recent reports indicate that Stuttgart submitted an initial bid of €18 million, including potential bonuses, for Pejcinovic, but the offer was rejected by Wolfsburg. The Bundesliga side are reportedly seeking a transfer fee closer to €25 million for the young striker. Pejcinovic has not yet established himself as a regular starter for Wolfsburg, making limited appearances in the Bundesliga last season.
Wohlgemuth also indicated that Stuttgart are not ruling out further additions to their squad before the transfer window closes, with a particular focus on strengthening offensive positions. Stuttgart finished in the Champions League qualification spots last season, and are looking to build on that success with strategic reinforcements.
Pejcinovic progressed through the youth ranks at Wolfsburg, and has represented Bosnia and Herzegovina at youth international level. A move to Stuttgart would potentially offer him increased playing time and the opportunity to further develop his career in a competitive environment. The transfer could provide Stuttgart with a dynamic attacking option, while a sale would allow Wolfsburg to generate revenue and potentially reinvest in other areas of their squad.
