Liverpool and Manchester United have both been placed on alert as Aurelien Tchouameni has been informed he is not guaranteed a long-term future at Real Madrid, with a summer exit now a strong possibility. According to TEAMtalk, Real Madrid are willing to consider offers for the France international as Jose Mourinho oversees a significant rebuild at the Santiago Bernabeu.
Sources have confirmed that communication between Tchouameni’s representatives and both Premier League clubs has remained open throughout the summer transfer window. Mourinho’s arrival has initiated a new era at Real, prompting a reconstruction of the squad, particularly in midfield. The club has already added Ibrahima Konate, Denzel Dumfries, and Marc Cucurella to their defensive ranks, with Bernardo Silva joining from Manchester City to bolster the midfield.
Tchouameni’s future became uncertain following a training ground incident with Federico Valverde earlier in the year, though Real Madrid initially maintained he remained a key player. However, the club’s stance has shifted with Mourinho’s arrival and the influx of new signings. Chelsea’s Enzo Fernandez and Manchester City’s Rodri are reportedly still targets for Real, alongside West Ham’s Mateus Fernandes and Bayern Munich’s Michael Olise, intensifying competition for places.
TEAMtalk understands that Tchouameni has been informed his place in Mourinho’s plans is no longer assured, potentially alongside fellow French international Eduardo Camavinga, should further additions be made. Liverpool have long admired Tchouameni, having pursued him during his time at Monaco before he ultimately joined Real Madrid in 2022, and continue to monitor his situation. Concerns over the long-term futures of existing midfielders have prompted the club to consider Tchouameni as a potential upgrade.
Manchester United are also keenly interested, having tracked the player for several years and viewing him as an elite midfielder capable of transforming their midfield. While Arsenal and Chelsea are also monitoring the situation, Liverpool and United are currently considered the frontrunners. Real Madrid are believed to be seeking a fee in the region of €100 million (£87m, $115m) for Tchouameni, recognising his value as an asset to fund further acquisitions. The club believes this valuation reflects his pedigree and experience at the highest level, making him a justifiable investment for interested clubs.
United have already withdrawn from pursuing Sandro Tonali and Elliot Anderson due to high valuations, and Liverpool have also shown reluctance to overpay for domestic targets. However, Tchouameni’s proven ability is seen as easier to justify than other current market valuations. With Mourinho’s rebuild progressing, both Liverpool and Manchester United are closely monitoring developments at the Bernabeu.
