Malik Tillman, Giovanni Reyna, and Joe Scally have all been named in the United States Men’s National Team squad for the 2026 World Cup, which will be co-hosted by the USA, Mexico, and Canada this summer. The announcement confirms the inclusion of three Bundesliga-based players in coach Pellegrino Matarazzo’s 26-man selection.
Tillman currently plays for Bayer Leverkusen, having joined the club in July 2025 from PSV Eindhoven for a reported €35 million. The Nürnberg-born attacker experienced a challenging first season with Leverkusen, scoring 8 goals in 42 appearances across all competitions as he adjusted to replacing the departed Florian Wirtz. Despite a relatively quiet goalscoring record in his debut campaign, Matarazzo clearly sees value in Tillman’s contributions to the team.
Reyna, who signed for Borussia Mönchengladbach from Borussia Dortmund in August 2025 for €7 million, also earns a place in the squad. The attacking midfielder made 19 league appearances for Gladbach during the recent season, registering one goal and one assist. His inclusion demonstrates Matarazzo’s desire for creative options in midfield.
Completing the Bundesliga contingent is full-back Joe Scally, who has been a consistent performer for Borussia Mönchengladbach since joining the club in 2019. Scally enjoyed a productive season, contributing 2 goals and 3 assists in 32 league games. His experience and reliability at the back are expected to be valuable assets for the USMNT.
The USMNT squad also includes several other players with Bundesliga experience, including Chris Richards, Tyler Adams, Weston McKennie, Ricardo Pepi, Christian Pulisic, Brenden Aaronson, and Haji Wright. Matarazzo, who previously managed TSG Hoffenheim and VfB Stuttgart, has clearly drawn on his knowledge of players who have thrived in the German top flight. The inclusion of this experienced core suggests the USA will be a competitive force at the tournament.
This selection indicates a blend of established stars and emerging talent as the USMNT prepares to compete on home soil, aiming to build on their recent progress in international football.
