Tottenham Hotspur are aiming to generate up to £222 million through player sales as they reshape their squad following a significant summer of investment, according to football.london. The club has already broken its transfer record twice this window, bringing in Mateus Fernandes from West Ham for £85 million and Sandro Tonali from Newcastle for an initial £92.5 million, a deal that could rise to £100 million with add-ons.
This influx of talent has prompted a shift in Tottenham’s transfer policy, with club officials now prioritizing ‘better value’ and ‘right timing’ when it comes to player departures, learning from previous sales involving players like Giovani Lo Celso and Tanguy Ndombele. The process began in January with Brennan Johnson’s move to Crystal Palace for £35 million.
Several players are now considered surplus to requirements. Luka Vuskovic is set to join Brighton for an initial £46 million, plus £4 million in add-ons, while Radu Dragusin will move to Fiorentina on a loan deal with a £21 million obligation to buy. Alfie Devine has already completed a £6 million move to Preston North End after a release clause was triggered.
Djed Spence, Cristian Romero, Guglielmo Vicario, and Lucas Bergvall are the players who could bring in the bulk of the remaining funds. Everton have reportedly added Spence to their list of right-back targets, though Tottenham are not actively seeking to sell the England international but would consider suitable offers, with a price tag of around £25 million being reported. Romero, valued at £50 million, is hoping for a move to either Real Madrid or Atletico Madrid, while Aston Villa and Nottingham Forest are both interested in Bergvall, also valued at £50 million.
Guglielmo Vicario is available for around £20 million after being replaced as first-choice goalkeeper by Antonin Kinsky. The Italian had previously been linked with a move to Inter Milan, but that opportunity has passed with Ivan Provedel joining the Nerazzurri. These sales would allow Spurs to continue to bolster their squad, with manager De Zerbi reportedly interested in Bournemouth striker Eli Junior Kroupi and a number of wingers including Rafael Leao, Cody Gakpo, Savinho and Antonio Nusa.
