Real Madrid have begun a significant squad overhaul following the appointment of Jose Mourinho and the re-election of Florentino Perez, with four new arrivals confirmed and three departures already announced. The club is aiming to strengthen after two trophyless seasons.
The first confirmed signing is Denzel Dumfries, joining from Inter Milan for a fee of £17.1m after the activation of his release clause. The 30-year-old right-back has signed a four-year contract and will compete with Trent Alexander-Arnold for a starting position. Ibrahima Konate has also arrived, joining on a free transfer from Liverpool and agreeing to a four-year deal, bolstering Madrid’s central defence.
Midfield reinforcements have come in the form of Bernardo Silva, who also joins on a free transfer after leaving Manchester City. The 31-year-old has signed a two-year contract, bringing experience to the team despite being in the later stages of his career. Completing the incoming players is Marc Cucurella, arriving from Chelsea for a fee of £51.8m and signing a six-year contract, providing competition at left-back.
On the outgoing side, Dani Ceballos has been released after nine years at the club, expressing his desire for a “new challenge.” The midfielder made 215 appearances for Madrid, scoring seven goals, and has been linked with a return to Real Betis. Long-serving right-back Dani Carvajal has also departed after more than a decade and 451 appearances, winning four La Liga titles and six Champions Leagues. His future remains uncertain, but he has ruled out immediate retirement. Defender David Alaba’s five-year spell has ended, with injuries limiting him to 132 appearances, and his next destination is currently unknown.
Reports suggest Madrid’s transfer business may not be finished, with potential interest in Michael Olise, although securing his signature from Bayern Munich would be difficult. Gonzalo Garcia could also be allowed to leave to accommodate Endrick’s return from loan, while Aurelien Tchouameni is expected to remain at the club.
