Galatasaray are preparing a move for Liverpool centre-back Virgil van Dijk, according to reports from Turkish source Fotomac. The Turkish giants view the 34-year-old as a ‘world-class’ replacement for Davinson Sanchez and are prepared to make a significant financial offer to secure his signature.
Van Dijk signed a contract extension with Liverpool in April 2025, keeping him at Anfield until June 2027, but Galatasaray president Dursun Ozbek has identified him as a ‘dream signing’ and will reportedly be personally involved in negotiations. While still a key player for Liverpool, the potential for a lucrative move to Turkey may appeal to the experienced defender.
Alongside Van Dijk, midfielder Curtis Jones is also attracting interest from abroad. Fabrizio Romano reports that Jones is “fully open” to joining Italian champions Inter Milan, having been impressed by their project and the interest shown since January. A move to Inter would offer Jones a potentially more prominent role than he currently enjoys at Liverpool.
Liverpool’s approval is still needed for Jones to complete a transfer, and a fee has yet to be agreed, but contract renewal talks are currently “completely on hold.” Inter Milan previously attempted to sign Jones in January and are expected to return with a formal proposal this summer. Jones has also been linked with Newcastle United, Aston Villa, and Tottenham Hotspur, adding competition for his signature.
Liverpool are reportedly preparing a bid for a German midfielder, a player Manchester United are also keenly monitoring, potentially as part of a reshuffle in midfield should Jones depart. These potential departures come as Liverpool look to reshape their squad following the season and ahead of future transfer windows.
Should both transfers materialize, it would represent a significant change in personnel for Jurgen Klopp’s side, though the club has already confirmed the departure of Mohamed Salah this summer.
