Juventus forward Dusan Vlahovic has paused contract negotiations with the Turin club and indicated a willingness to accept a reduced role at Barcelona, according to reports in Italy.
Barcelona’s Director of Football, Deco, previously met with Vlahovic’s agent to explore potential terms, but the club initially decided the Serbian international did not fit their profile for a forward. This assessment came amidst speculation linking Robert Lewandowski with a move to Juventus. However, Vlahovic’s changing stance could alter Barcelona’s perspective.
GdS, as reported by MD, states that Vlahovic’s representatives have held five meetings with Juventus regarding a contract extension, even offering to lower the player’s salary demands. Despite this, an agreement has not been reached, and Vlahovic’s camp have communicated his openness to a diminished role at Barcelona in exchange for a transfer, alongside accepting a lower wage. He has also been offered to Bayern Munich and Manchester United.
Despite Vlahovic’s willingness to join, Barcelona are currently not actively pursuing a deal for the 24-year-old. The club’s priority remains finding a long-term replacement for Lewandowski, and they have reportedly scouted options like Vedat Muriqi and Alexander Sorloth. A move for Vlahovic would likely depend on the departures of both Lewandowski and Ferran Torres, with another established number nine arriving beforehand.
Torres’ contract is set to expire next year, and Lewandowski is increasingly linked with a move away from the Camp Nou, making such a scenario plausible. Vlahovic joined Juventus from Fiorentina in January 2022 and has scored 25 goals in 62 Serie A appearances for the club. He has also earned 46 caps for Serbia, scoring 10 goals.
