Negotiations between Juventus and Dusan Vlahovic remain at a standstill, though a complete breakdown has not occurred, according to reports in Italy. Both parties are awaiting a signal from the other, or potentially from club management, as they navigate a complex situation.
Juventus CEO Giovanni Carnevali has reportedly received a detailed assessment of Vlahovic’s situation and is exploring potential avenues to revive discussions, which previously stalled due to a lack of compromise. While both sides retain a willingness to find a solution, demands from Vlahovic’s representatives previously halted progress.
The situation was further complicated by Juventus failing to qualify for the Champions League, necessitating a reallocation of resources. The club has not been actively pursuing a swift resolution, as they were not under immediate pressure. However, with the transfer window progressing past mid-June, a decision is becoming increasingly necessary.
Should Vlahovic express a desire to remain in Turin, Juventus are prepared to offer a lucrative contract worth over €6 million annually. Manager Massimiliano Allegri is keen to build his attack around the Serbian international, viewing him as a key player for the upcoming season. Vlahovic is aware of Allegri’s intentions and may leverage this in negotiations.
Beyond the financial aspects, Vlahovic is seeking greater recognition within the team, reportedly desiring to be named captain. A potential two-year contract extension, with a future renegotiation in 12 months, is also under consideration. Carnevali is currently working on a final attempt to convince Vlahovic and his father, Milos, to remain with the club.
Vlahovic is currently undergoing rehabilitation in Turin following an adductor injury that sidelined him for 21 matches, equating to 100 days without playing. He is focused on preparing for the new season and regaining full fitness, which could aid in convincing both himself and any potential doubters of a continued future with Juventus. A successful recovery and strong pre-season could be pivotal in securing his place in Allegri’s plans.
