Tottenham Hotspur are poised to sell defender Luka Vuskovic to Brighton & Hove Albion after the player reached a full verbal agreement with the Seagulls, according to Sky Germany’s Florian Plettenberg. The potential transfer comes despite Vuskovic being widely regarded as one of the most promising young centre-backs in world football.
Spurs signed the Croatia international in 2023, with an agreement for his arrival in 2025. He spent last season on loan at Hamburg, where he impressed, leading to initial expectations he would challenge for a starting role under Roberto De Zerbi next term. However, Vuskovic has indicated a preference for a move to Brighton, believing the club offers a better environment for his development.
Brighton have submitted a €35 million offer for Vuskovic, and the deal is being considered by Tottenham, though it is linked to the potential acquisition of Jan Paul van Hecke. Sources indicate that progress on one deal could facilitate the other, with Brighton currently valuing van Hecke at over £65 million. Tottenham are also exploring the possibility of including a buy-back clause in any agreement with Brighton, providing a degree of future security should Vuskovic’s career progress as anticipated.
TEAMtalk’s Graeme Bailey reports that Tottenham are seriously considering Brighton’s proposal. Vuskovic’s representatives have reportedly suggested the inclusion of a buy-back clause, which Tottenham would be open to discussing. Plettenberg adds that Vuskovic has turned down offers from other clubs in favour of a move to Brighton, where he has already held positive talks with manager Fabian Hürzeler and the club’s hierarchy. The transfer remains complicated, but Brighton are actively pursuing the deal.
Tottenham are also active in other areas of the transfer market, with ‘full verbal agreements’ reached for Andy Robertson and Marcos Senesi, and advanced talks ongoing with Manchester City regarding Savinho. Negotiations are also underway to secure a permanent deal for Joao Palhinha for a fee below his existing option to buy.
