Sebastian Walukiewicz has joined U.S. Sassuolo Calcio on a permanent transfer from Torino FC, the clubs announced. The move comes after Sassuolo confirmed the sale of Ruan Tressoldi to Atletico Mineiro and follows a successful loan spell for Walukiewicz with the Neroverdi. Torino will receive a fee of €5 million from the transfer, according to reports.
Walukiewicz impressed during his loan period with Sassuolo, making 36 appearances across Serie A and Coppa Italia during the 2024/25 season. His consistent performances led Sassuolo to exercise their option to purchase the Polish defender outright. The club confirmed the deal via a statement, highlighting Walukiewicz’s significant contribution to the team throughout the campaign.
The transfer represents a positive outcome for both clubs. Sassuolo have secured a player who quickly established himself as a key component of their defense, while Torino have generated a substantial fee from a player who featured in 30 matches for them prior to the loan. The funds are expected to be reinvested in strengthening their squad under new manager Ignazio Abate.
Sassuolo recently appointed Veronica Squinzi as their new Chief Executive Officer, following the departure of Giovanni Carnevali to Juventus. This transfer is one of the first moves under the new leadership, signaling a commitment to building a competitive team for the upcoming season. Abate, meanwhile, has begun preparations for the new campaign by opening training sessions to fans ahead of the team’s retreat to Pinzolo.
Walukiewicz’s move to Sassuolo provides him with the opportunity to continue his development in Serie A, having previously established himself as a capable defender in the Italian top flight. The 26-year-old will be looking to build on his impressive form and become a mainstay in the Sassuolo backline. This transfer solidifies Sassuolo’s defensive options and provides stability as they approach the new season.
