VfL Wolfsburg have confirmed the departures of six players following their relegation from the Bundesliga, signalling a significant squad overhaul for the club. The announcements came as Die Wölfe prepare for life in the 2. Bundesliga after a disappointing season that culminated in a relegation playoff defeat to Holstein Kiel.
Four players will return to their parent clubs after their loan spells with Wolfsburg concluded. Jeanuel Belocian will rejoin Bayer 04 Leverkusen, while Adam Daghim heads back to FC Red Bull Salzburg. Jenson Seelt’s loan from AFC Sunderland is also complete, and Jesper Lindstrøm will return to SSC Napoli. Lindstrøm, in particular, had been expected to return to Italy after a loan spell that saw him make 16 appearances for Wolfsburg, scoring three goals.
In addition to the returning loanees, Wolfsburg will also see Jonas Wind and Kevin Paredes depart as free agents. Both players had contracts expiring at the end of June. Wind, a Danish international, made a substantial 124 appearances for Wolfsburg across all competitions, netting 35 goals. He arrived from Copenhagen in January 2022 and became a key figure in the attack, despite the team’s overall struggles.

While not a consistent starter, Paredes provided valuable depth and energy to the squad. According to the club statement, Wolfsburg thanked all six players for their contributions and wished them well in their future careers.
The departures are the first in what is expected to be a busy summer for Wolfsburg as they aim to rebuild a squad capable of challenging for promotion back to the Bundesliga. Further player movement is anticipated as the club looks to reshape its team under a new tactical approach.
