Eintracht Frankfurt show strong interest in Bayern Munich's Noel Aseko
Eintracht Frankfurt are among several Bundesliga clubs monitoring Bayern Munich midfielder Noel Aseko, according to a report from Sky Germany. The 20-year-old is set to return to the German champions this summer after they activated a buy-back clause following his spell at Hannover 96.
Sky Germany states that Frankfurt hold a "strong interest" in the Germany Under-21 international. Aseko is expected to be assessed by new Bayern head coach Vincent Kompany during the club's pre-season preparations, but the report indicates that a subsequent loan move or even a permanent transfer before the window closes remains a distinct possibility.
The young central midfielder spent the 2023-24 season on loan at Hannover 96 in the 2. Bundesliga, where his performances prompted the club to make the move permanent. However, a clause in that agreement allowed Bayern to reclaim him for a fixed fee, which they have now done. During his time at Hannover, Noel Aseko made 28 appearances across all competitions, registering three goals and six assists from a deep-lying role.
His form at club level, combined with his status as a regular for Germany's Under-21 side, has attracted attention from within the top flight. For Eintracht Frankfurt, who are looking to rebuild their midfield following the departures of key players in recent seasons, Aseko represents a promising, domestically-developed talent who could be available on a cost-effective deal, either on loan or with a long-term contract.
From Bayern Munich's perspective, the situation offers flexibility. The club can evaluate a player they previously developed in their academy under Kompany's eye, with the option to either integrate him into the first-team squad or sanction a move that would include a sell-on clause or buy-back option, a model they have used frequently with young talents. Aseko's current contract situation and any potential fee involved in a move to Frankfurt were not detailed in the initial report.
The coming weeks will determine whether Aseko features in Kompany's plans for the upcoming campaign or if he continues his development elsewhere. For Frankfurt, securing a player of his profile would be a strategic move, adding a dynamic, ball-playing midfielder to their ranks as they aim to improve on a seventh-place finish in the Bundesliga last season.
