Manchester United set €70m price tag amid Bruno Fernandes contract talks
Manchester United have decided they will not sell captain Bruno Fernandes this summer unless they receive an offer of at least €70 million, according to reports. The club's priority is to secure the 31-year-old Portuguese midfielder to a new contract, with his current deal having less than 18 months remaining.
Despite United's desire to retain him, Fernandes has attracted significant interest. Clubs from Saudi Arabia are known admirers and are expected to renew their pursuit, although it is suggested the player is not currently keen on a move to the Middle East. More notably, French champions Paris Saint-Germain, managed by Luis Enrique, have identified Fernandes as a priority target.
It is reported that PSG are in contact with the player's representatives, with Luis Enrique keen to build a Portuguese midfield core alongside Vitinha and the newly-signed Joao Neves. This external interest has forced United to establish a firm valuation for their captain, who remains a pivotal figure at Old Trafford under manager Michael Carrick.
Fernandes has been a consistent performer since joining from Sporting CP in 2020, taking on the captaincy last season. The reported €70m price tag is set despite the fact he could leave on a free transfer when his contract expires in 2027, underscoring United's bargaining position and his importance to the project.
Should an unexpected sale materialise, United are expected to enter the market for a major replacement. The club has previously been linked with a move for Chelsea's Cole Palmer, as reported by FootballTransfers in January, while Aston Villa's Morgan Rogers is also named as a potential target. For now, the focus at Old Trafford remains on securing Fernandes's long-term future.
