Adi Hütter is poised to return to Eintracht Frankfurt as their new head coach, with negotiations reportedly progressing well. The Bundesliga club are seeking a replacement for Albert Riera, who departed at the end of the 2025/26 season, and have identified Hütter as their primary target. According to Kicker, while some details remain to be finalised, both Eintracht Frankfurt and Hütter are confident of reaching an agreement.
Should discussions continue positively, Hütter could be appointed as early as next week, marking a swift move for the club to secure their preferred candidate. This would represent a second spell in charge of the Hessen-based outfit for the 56-year-old Austrian manager.
Hütter previously managed Eintracht Frankfurt between 2018 and 2021, achieving notable success during his tenure. He guided the team to the Europa League semi-finals in his first season, establishing a reputation for pragmatic and effective football. His time at the club was marked by a strong connection with the fans and a period of sustained European competition.
Following his departure from Frankfurt, Hütter took charge of Borussia Mönchengladbach, where he spent two seasons before moving to AS Monaco in 2022. However, his time in the French Ligue 1 came to an end in October 2025 when he was relieved of his duties. Despite this recent setback, his proven track record in the Bundesliga and his familiarity with Eintracht Frankfurt have made him an attractive option for the club’s hierarchy.
The appointment of Hütter is expected to provide stability and a clear tactical direction for Eintracht Frankfurt as they look to build on their recent successes. His return could also signal a shift towards a more defensively solid approach, potentially addressing some of the vulnerabilities that emerged under Riera’s leadership.
