Arsenal are preparing to intensify their efforts to sign Newcastle United midfielder Bruno Guimaraes, football.london reports. The move comes after Brazil’s elimination from the World Cup, allowing Arsenal sporting director Andrea Berta to begin more detailed discussions with Guimaraes’ representatives.
Preliminary talks have already taken place, with an initial verbal offer submitted to Newcastle. While this bid was rejected, sources suggest a deal is possible if Guimaraes expresses a strong desire to move to the Emirates Stadium, a claim initially reported by FootballTransfers. Guimaraes has been a key figure for Newcastle since his arrival in January 2022, contributing significantly to their midfield stability and attacking play.
Alongside the pursuit of Guimaraes, Arsenal are also evaluating potential replacements for Ben White should he depart this summer, according to TEAMtalk. Former Manchester United and current West Ham defender Aaron Wan-Bissaka is among eleven players on Arsenal’s shortlist, having impressed while playing for DR Congo at the recent World Cup. West Ham’s relegation to the Championship could facilitate Wan-Bissaka’s availability.
Arsenal are also considering centre-backs as potential options at right-back, including Raul Asencio of Real Madrid and Ezri Konsa from Aston Villa, demonstrating a flexible approach to strengthening their defensive options. The club is actively exploring multiple avenues to reinforce their squad ahead of the new season.
Further afield, Arsenal are poised to submit an offer for Boca Juniors midfielder Tomas Aranda, Parma Live reports. The 19-year-old Argentinian has already earned a senior international cap and has made 21 appearances for Boca Juniors this year. Arsenal are reportedly willing to exceed Aranda’s €17 million release clause to secure his signature, facing competition from Parma.
In defensive news, Arsenal have affirmed their commitment to retaining Piero Hincapie, despite reported interest from Real Madrid, TEAMtalk adds. New Real Madrid manager Jose Mourinho identified a left-sided centre-back as a priority signing, but Arsenal are unwilling to sell Hincapie after completing his permanent transfer from Bayer Leverkusen for €52 million following a successful loan spell.
