Arsenal have made Mateus Fernandes their priority midfield target and have submitted a bid of €90 million to West Ham United, according to CaughtOffside. The Gunners are seeking to bolster their midfield options and have identified the Portugal international as their preferred signing, despite previous links to Newcastle United’s Sandro Tonali.
West Ham are reportedly seeking to raise funds through player sales this summer and initially demanded a fee exceeding €80 million for Fernandes. However, the club is expected to be open to negotiating a lower price as the transfer window progresses. Arsenal’s significant offer indicates their determination to secure the 24-year-old’s services.
Manchester United are also monitoring Tonali, with reports suggesting they are prepared to submit a bid that could surpass €90 million. Newcastle United are reluctant to sell the Italian midfielder and have placed a valuation of over €100 million on his head, but United are poised to test their resolve. Arsenal’s focus on Fernandes has seemingly cleared a path for United to pursue Tonali.
Further reports indicate that Julian Alvarez, currently at Atletico Madrid, was once considered by Arsenal, but a move to Barcelona fell through due to a fractured relationship between the two clubs. Alvarez, however, is reportedly uninterested in a return to the Premier League after a previous spell with Manchester City and is expected to remain with Atletico.
Elsewhere, Sporting CP’s Francisco Trincao has been identified as a potential replacement for Mohamed Salah at Liverpool, despite the recent managerial change at Anfield. Marseille forward Mason Greenwood has agreed personal terms with Fenerbahce, contingent on a fee being agreed with the French club, with Manchester United due a sell-on clause from any eventual transfer. Several other potential moves are also being reported across Europe, involving players from Chelsea, PSG, Galatasaray, and Juventus.
