Monaco are poised to sign Barcelona midfielder Marc Casado, moving ahead of several Premier League clubs including Manchester United in the pursuit of the Spanish international. According to TEAMtalk, the Ligue 1 side are finalising a deal expected to exceed £20million.
Barcelona are anticipating a busy summer of squad restructuring under new manager Hansi Flick, and Casado has emerged as a likely departure as the club seeks to generate funds and create space within the team. The 22-year-old enjoyed a breakthrough season at Camp Nou last year, making over 30 appearances as Barcelona won LaLiga, though fewer than half were as a starter.
Sources indicate that Monaco have made the most compelling offer to date, and are increasingly confident of securing Casado’s signature. The player is reportedly prioritising a move that guarantees regular first-team football, a key factor in Monaco’s growing optimism. Several Premier League clubs, including Manchester United, Newcastle United, Aston Villa, Brighton, Nottingham Forest, Everton, and Crystal Palace, have all expressed interest in Casado in recent months, but none submitted a formal offer.
Chelsea also remain admirers of the midfielder, however, their inability to guarantee consistent playing time has reportedly hindered their chances. Monaco have presented Casado with a clear pathway to a prominent role in their team, which has strongly appealed to the player. He is believed to view the move as the best step for his continued development.
Barcelona are expected to continue offloading players as they prepare for potential arrivals this summer, having already reached an agreement with Bernardo Silva and continuing to pursue other targets. Casado now appears to be among the first players set to leave the club.
