Arsenal are on the verge of completing a deal to sign Jeremy Monga from Leicester City, according to TEAMtalk. The 16-year-old has reportedly chosen the Gunners despite interest from several other prominent European clubs, including Manchester United, Manchester City, and Chelsea.
The transfer is expected to cost between £10 million and £15 million, with Arsenal now in negotiations with Leicester to finalize a compensation package. Monga has already agreed personal terms with Arsenal, making the Emirates Stadium his preferred destination. He recently signed a professional contract with Leicester that will activate on his 17th birthday, July 10th, necessitating a compensation agreement between the clubs.
Monga has emerged as a highly-rated young talent in English football, attracting attention for his potential. Arsenal’s recruitment team believes he has the capacity to develop into a first-team player in the coming years, aligning with the club’s strategy of investing in promising youth. The Gunners have been aggressive in the youth market, seeking to secure emerging prospects from both the UK and abroad.
Leicester initially rejected Arsenal’s opening offer, but discussions are ongoing, with optimism that a compromise can be reached. Sources close to Monga indicate he is pleased that Leicester will receive significant compensation for his departure, acknowledging the role the club has played in his development. This transfer follows Arsenal’s agreement to make Piero Hincapie’s loan from Bayer Leverkusen permanent for a fee of €52 million (£45 million).
Arsenal are also reportedly pursuing FC Kolkheti and Georgia Under-21 international Andria Bartishvili, with sporting director Andrea Berta leading the recruitment efforts. The club hopes to finalize the Monga deal before the end of the month, further bolstering their squad with young talent.
