Arsenal have agreed to sell winger Leandro Trossard to Besiktas for €18 million, plus a potential €2 million in add-ons, according to The Athletic. This move is intended to free up funds and a squad space as the Gunners simultaneously pursue two potential club-record signings: Morgan Rogers of Aston Villa and Bradley Barcola of Paris Saint-Germain.
Both Rogers and Barcola are valued at over £100 million, with Rogers reportedly costing around £130 million and Barcola exceeding €135 million (£116 million). Currently, Declan Rice remains Arsenal’s most expensive signing, having joined from West Ham for £105 million in 2023. Andrea Berta, Arsenal’s sporting director, is leading efforts on both deals, ensuring the club doesn’t miss out on either player.
According to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, Morgan Rogers is currently Arsenal’s preferred target. Romano stated on his YouTube channel that Aston Villa are seeking approximately £130 million for Rogers, but Arsenal are hoping to negotiate the fee through add-ons and a structured payment plan. Chelsea have also expressed interest in Rogers, but Arsenal have made significant progress on the player’s side of the deal.
Liverpool are also interested in Barcola, complicating Arsenal’s pursuit. However, sources indicate that both Rogers and Barcola are receptive to a move to the Emirates Stadium, suggesting personal terms shouldn’t be a major obstacle. X account HandofArsenal reported that both players are “very open” to joining Arsenal, describing the situation as a “classic Berta” move – a reference to Berta’s negotiating style.
The sale of Trossard, who joined Arsenal in January 2023, is seen as a key step in facilitating the arrival of a new winger. The club believes either Rogers or Barcola would represent a significant upgrade in wide areas, potentially addressing long-term needs in the squad. The arrival of either player would further strengthen Arsenal’s attacking options as they prepare for another Premier League title challenge.
